Not only are Polywood® shutters a fully recyclable shutter, but they are also comprised of up to 20% recycled Polywood material. No other shutter company in Detroit – or even in the US – does that.
Sunburst supports green design, products, and buildings. We aim for reusing our materials whenever possible. We recycle water used to cool components when they come out of ovens. We reuse packaging materials. We reuse shutter fragments – or regrind them and recycle them into new shutters. We recycle hundreds of tons of materials every year.
When we prepare our window treatments for transportation to your residence for installation, we place reusable corner pieces on the edges of louvers and use the least amount of cardboard to pack up the shutters.
Our plantation shutters are coated with patented paints that are environmentally safe – and are even lower than the standard volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions allowed. During our manufacturing method, none of our paints give off fumes. We mean it when we say our paints are safe.
Polywood Shutters do not give off dangerous gasses – so you and your loved ones can breathe easier and savor your window treatments.
The Only Shutter Recycling Program in Detroit, MI
If you ever want to switch your window treatment styles, we provide a shutter recycling program in Detroit to keep Polywood shutters out of landfills. You simply have to remove the shutters at your own expense, and call our store manager at 248-429-9294 to set up a pick-up. We will pick up your shutters and reuse some part of them in future Polywood shutters. This is true for Polywood shutters only—we don’t recycle other shutter brands.
With this program, you can recycle Polywood shutters at no cost to you. And, together, we’re assisting in keeping the environment green in Detroit.
