Congrats to the First Share Your Shutters Winner of 2017!

Steve Hill

A new year means a new chance to upgrade your interior design, and beautiful new shots of shutters from homeowners in Detroit and across the country. The new year also means a new winner for our Share Your Shutters contest, and the winner for January 2017 is Katie S. of Elk Grove, California for her Polywood® plantation shutters.

Elk Grove is located in Northern California and is just one of the many places around the U.S. in which homes can benefit from Polywood shutters no matter the time of year. Even when somewhat open like in Katie’s photo submission, plantation shutters block a good amount of outside light from coming into the home. In Elk Grove or in Detroit, that’s a boon to any savvy homeowner who wants a lot of customizability in their space.

Plantation shutters also block heat, which means they’re ideal for homeowners who experience scorching summers or cold winters, or who just want to maximize their home’s energy efficiency. That results in a cozier home and cash back in your pocket every month with reduced energy bills.

Katie’s shutters also capitalize on some newer home design trends. Neutral-hued backgrounds such as her beige wall are becoming very popular, with contrasting instances of colors–in Katie’s home the white of the Polywood shutters–serving as points of interest throughout the room. Available in a range of white and off-white shades, plantation shutters can fill a great niche in modern home design.

As our latest Share Your Shutters winner, Katie wins a $100 gift certificate to a California restaurant, as well as getting her plantation shutters featured alongside our past winners.
